Possibility of Power Outage in Karachi During Rain, K-Electric’s Strong Safety Warning

Karachi’s power supply company, K-Electric

has announced that following reports of rain in the city and its surroundings, as a safety measure, the power supply in low-lying areas may be temporarily suspended.

A K-Electric spokesperson on Tuesday urged citizens to exercise caution when using electrical appliances during bad weather, especially high winds and rain.

The utility’s representative specifically pointed to the unsafe use of items like water motors during rains and in areas with standing water, saying that such actions could lead to accidents.

The public has also been instructed to maintain a safe distance from power transmission installations, broken wires, and television or internet cables.

The statement emphasized the serious danger of illegal electricity connections, called “kundas,” which were cited as a potential cause of fatal accidents.

According to the power company, the evolving situation is being closely monitored and its field staff has been placed on high alert to deal with any issues.

For any electricity-related emergency, residents are directed to contact the 118 helpline immediately.

The spokesperson added that further assistance and guidance is available through K-Electric’s official social media channels, its dedicated K-Electric Live app, and the company’s WhatsApp service.
