Authorities have arrested the ringleader and two female members of a gang involved in circulating counterfeit currency and defrauding shopkeepers in the city’s East Zone on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the East Police announced that the successful operation was conducted by Mehmoodabad police in the Azam Town area based on a secret tip-off.
During the raid, law enforcement agencies seized counterfeit banknotes worth one hundred and forty thousand rupees. An illegal weapon was also recovered from the possession of the detained individuals.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shahzad son of Raunaq Ali, a female suspect Bushra wife of Shahzad, and Nosheen Kiran daughter of Shaukat Ali.
Authorities have confirmed that cases have been registered against the accused in accordance with the law, and further comprehensive investigations into the matter are underway.
