Karachi Mayor, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has issued stern directives to the municipal staff, demanding the completion of all ongoing development projects before Eid and resolution of citizens’ complaints, stating, “I don’t want briefings anymore.”
The mayor gave this ultimatum during a visit on Thursday morning to review the progress of various projects, including road carpeting in the Old City Area, and renovation works on Jahangir Road, Hidayatullah Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Barrister Wahab instructed the officials present on site, “The month of Ramadan has arrived; people should be provided with facilities before Eid.”
He emphasized the strategic importance of the projects, stating that improvements in the Old City Area will positively impact traffic flow throughout the city.
Focusing on a key point, he described Jahangir Road as a vital artery connecting the city’s main thoroughfares and ordered its construction to be expedited. He added that the administration is striving to open one track of the road before the Eid holidays to alleviate citizens’ difficulties.
The mayor stressed that there would be no compromise on construction quality, and directed that payments to contractors be released only after a thorough inspection and verification process.
He assured that public funds would be spent with complete transparency, and promised that its details would be presented to the public.
Mayor Wahab concluded, “I assure the citizens that after a short wait, the city’s infrastructure will improve.”
