Pakistan Denounces Israel’s ‘Brazen’ West Bank Actions, Cites Broken Assurances

Pakistan today strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing measures in the Occupied West Bank, labelling them as “de facto annexation” that proceeds with “brazen impunity” despite prior assurances to the contrary, according to a statement from the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM). Addressing an emergency Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) session, the DPM/FM also censured recent “irresponsible” remarks by the United States Ambassador to Israel as a threat to regional stability.

The statement was delivered at the Extraordinary Open-Ended Ministerial Session of the OIC Executive Committee in Jeddah, convened to address Israeli settlement expansion and annexation attempts. Pakistan voiced its full support for the session, which was chaired by the Republic of the Gambia.

According to the DPM/FM, leaders from the Group of Eight Arab-Islamic countries, including Pakistan, had received assurances during consultations with the US President in September 2025 that the annexation of the West Bank would not proceed. The statement asserted that Israel”s current actions on the ground “flagrantly violate” international law, including UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and undermine all diplomatic peace efforts.

Pakistan also reiterated its condemnation of inflammatory remarks made by the US Ambassador to Israel, which suggested it was acceptable for Israel to control territories belonging to Arab states. The DPM/FM described such comments as “deeply concerning,” inconsistent with international law, and a direct contradiction to peace initiatives like the Board of Peace (BoP).

The foreign minister highlighted that these violations erode regional stability and trample on the rights of the Palestinian people, calling for decisive international action to uphold the assurances made to the Arab-Islamic group. He confirmed Pakistan”s engagement, as part of this group, to secure a sustainable ceasefire and a credible political path towards an independent Palestinian state.

As an elected member of the UN Security Council, Pakistan pledged to remain at the forefront of advancing the Palestinian cause. The DPM/FM outlined several collective objectives for the OIC, including the immediate reversal of all Israeli annexation measures, full implementation of UNSC Resolution 2803, accountability for war crimes, and the commencement of reconstruction in Gaza.

The statement drew a parallel between the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and “Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” urging the OIC to intensify its efforts for a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Concluding the address, the DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan”s “unwavering and permanent” support for the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, describing the current situation as a “defining moment for the Muslim Ummah.”
