Sindh Chief Minister orders probe into deadly US Consulate incident

The Sindh Chief Minister has ordered an impartial inquiry into a tragic incident at the US Consulate that resulted in the loss of human lives, and, terming it a “war-like situation” for the country, has appealed to the public to remain calm.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life, the Chief Minister said today that the government cannot allow anyone to take the law into their own hands and has directed the administration and police to maintain civic peace and order at all costs.

The directives from the provincial head came as he also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. In a statement issued from the Chief Minister House on Sunday, he affirmed that “in this hour of grief, the people of Sindh stand in complete solidarity with Iran and all the bereaved.”

In an effort to de-escalate public sentiment, the Chief Minister has reached out to prominent religious leaders, including Allama Shahenshah Naqvi and Allama Shabbir Meesmi. He appealed to the Ulema to help manage public emotions under all circumstances.

Upon a request from Allama Shahenshah Naqvi and other scholars to hold a Majlis at Numaish, the Chief Minister directed the administration and police to provide comprehensive security for the event.

The Chief Minister reiterated that it is inappropriate to sabotage peace at such a critical time and appealed to scholars from different schools of thought and citizens to guide the public towards maintaining peace and order.

Emphasizing that the protection of public life and property is the government’s top priority, the Chief Minister requested cooperation from the citizens to ensure stability.
