The Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on Tuesday accused India of aligning with Afghanistan to conduct “cowardly attacks” against Pakistan, asserting that the nation was compelled to demonstrate its defensive strength after all diplomatic options were exhausted.
The statements were made by Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai while addressing a solidarity gathering organised by the university to reaffirm its unwavering support for the Pakistan Armed Forces. The procession saw significant participation from deans, departmental heads, faculty, staff, and students, who chanted slogans while marching from the university”s main building to its Talpur House.
Dr. Sahrai stated that Pakistan has always prioritised tolerance and does not believe in aggression, consistently pursuing diplomatic avenues to de-escalate tensions allegedly created by Afghanistan. He noted that Pakistan sought the help of friendly nations to resolve disputes through dialogue.
The vice chancellor recounted Pakistan”s history of humanitarian compassion, particularly its decades-long support for Afghan refugees. He expressed deep regret over what he described as “hostile actions and betrayals” directed from Afghanistan, which he claimed were backed by India and undermined regional stability through terrorist activities.
He clarified that Pakistan has never initiated aggression against its neighbours; however, it was forced to act when national security was threatened. Referencing a past event, Dr. Sahrai asserted that India had “directly attacked Pakistan last year and met with defeat badly” due to the decisive response from the nation”s military.
The courage and professionalism displayed by the Pakistan Armed Forces in such moments have earned global recognition and set examples of valour and honour worldwide, he added.
Dr. Sahrai urged the student body to pay tribute to the armed forces for safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. He encouraged them to responsibly use digital platforms to counter hostile propaganda, expose misinformation, and strengthen national morale through constructive online engagement.
He reaffirmed that the university stands firmly with its armed forces in the defence of peace and national honour.
The event concluded with slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pakistan Armed Forces Zindabad,” along with collective prayers for the country”s peace, stability, and prosperity.
