New Sindh Governor Urged to Secure Federal Funds for Infrastructure Overhaul

The business community today expressed strong optimism that the newly appointed Governor of Sindh, Nihal Hashmi, will be instrumental in securing crucial federal funding to address the severe infrastructure challenges plaguing Karachi and other parts of the province.

In a statement released on Thursday, Malik Khuda Bakhsh, President of the Pakistan Business Forum”s (PBF) Sindh Chapter, lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif”s decision to appoint the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) stalwart, describing it as a positive development for the region.

Bakhsh, who also serves as the Chief Adviser to the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, conveyed that the people of Sindh, especially residents of the metropolis, have complete confidence in Hashmi”s extensive political experience and dedication to public service.

He highlighted the appointee”s commendable and long-standing contributions to national development and public welfare.

A native of Karachi, Hashmi has a long-standing association with the PML-N. His political career includes serving as an adviser on Law and Justice to former premier Nawaz Sharif from 1997 to 1999 and being elected to the Senate in 2015 on a party ticket from a seat allocated to Punjab.

Within the party”s regional structure, he has previously held the positions of PML-N Karachi President in 2012 and General Secretary for the Sindh chapter, an appointment made in August 2014.

The PBF president expressed hope that Hashmi”s vision and guidance would help strengthen provincial institutions and advance public welfare, positioning him to effectively advocate for the resources needed for urban renewal.
