In a significant move to bolster public safety and enforce traffic laws, the Rawalpindi Traffic Police has launched a stern crackdown against vehicles without number plates or with illegal tinted glass, resulting in over 500 tickets being issued this month alone.
On the directive issued today by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, law enforcement agencies have established special checking points across the district to target vehicles with “Applied For,” non-standard, or no number plates, which will also be on duty on Sundays.
The campaign has already yielded significant results; during the current month, authorities have issued 463 tickets for registration plate violations and a further 40 for the use of prohibited tinted glass on vehicles.
CTO Farhan Aslam explained that the primary objective of the operation is to uphold traffic laws and to protect the lives and property of the general public. He emphasized that the number plate is the official identity of a vehicle.
The CTO warned that tampering with or concealing a number plate is a legal offense and reiterated the strict prohibition on tinted glass. He issued a stern warning that individuals using fake or bogus registration plates will face serious legal consequences.
Concluding his statement, the traffic chief urged all citizens to abide by traffic laws, ensure timely registration of their cars and motorcycles, and exclusively use official-specimen number plates to avoid any legal action.
