New avenues of bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and the US have been highlighted after the recent visit of a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). Chamber President Usman Shaukat and Senior Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi today presented a detailed post-visit briefing to Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan outlining the outcomes of their engagements and future opportunities.
Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan commended the RCCI delegation”s proactive outreach to American stakeholders, characterising such initiatives as crucial for bolstering Pakistan”s economic diplomacy. He underscored the pivotal role of business chambers in identifying commercial prospects, forging international connections, and supporting governmental efforts to boost exports and attract foreign capital. The Minister reiterated Pakistan”s commitment to fostering structured, business-centric collaboration with the United States to achieve sustainable trade expansion and industrial growth.
During their interaction, the RCCI representatives detailed the principal outcomes of their engagements with U.S. legislators, business executives, chambers of commerce, and economic development organisations. They informed the Minister that their visit generated significant interest in deepening Pakistan-U.S. commercial ties, particularly within key sectors such as steel, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, minerals, mining, and technology.
Discussions on Capitol Hill focused on reinforcing bilateral trade relations and enhancing Pakistan’s investment appeal. American stakeholders reportedly expressed keen interest in greater economic partnership, emphasising the importance of consistent policy frameworks and robust investor facilitation.
The delegation also reported on meetings with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the New York Chamber of Commerce, and business figures in New Jersey, which yielded positive responses concerning potential partnerships with Pakistan”s private sector. The burgeoning influence of the Pakistani diaspora, especially within the technology domain, was identified as a strong conduit for promoting Pakistan’s commercial potential in the U.S. market.
According to the presentation, the American side showed receptiveness towards state-level and sector-specific cooperation, suggesting a pathway for more practical and targeted economic alliances. The RCCI delegation stressed the necessity of focusing not only on exports but also on attracting investment, facilitating joint ventures, and fostering long-term industrial collaboration.
The RCCI leadership reaffirmed its dedication to working closely with the Ministry of Commerce. This collaboration aims to ensure effective follow-up actions and translate the positive momentum gained from the U.S. visit into tangible economic benefits for Pakistan.
