Majority of Nations Still Awaiting Official Squad Announcements for 2026 World Cup

As anticipation builds for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, a significant number of participating nations are yet to disclose their official playing squads, leaving fans and analysts awaiting crucial team selections. This widespread deferral contrasts sharply with the early announcements made by England and New Zealand, who have already finalised their rosters for the upcoming global tournament.

The International Cricket Council has listed 12 nations participating across two groups for the tournament. Group 1 comprises Australia, Bangladesh, India, Netherlands, Pakistan, and South Africa, all of whom currently have their squads pending official confirmation, according to a statement today.

Similarly, within Group 2, the teams representing Ireland, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and West Indies have not yet unveiled their selections. This means a substantial majority of the competing sides are still to finalise their personnel, creating a degree of uncertainty regarding tournament preparations.

In contrast, England has confirmed a robust 15-member contingent. Their squad includes notable names such as captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Dani Gibson, Amy Jones, Freya Kemp, Heather Knight, Linsey Smith, Issy Wong, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

New Zealand also stands among the nations with a confirmed lineup. Skipper Melie Kerr will lead a team featuring Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Flora Devonshire, Izzy Gaze, Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Bree Illing, Polly Inglis, Jess Kerr, Rosemary Mair, Nensi Patel, Georgia Plimmer, Izzy Sharp, and Lea Tahuhu.

The International Cricket Council has also noted that tickets for the ICC Women”s World Cup 2026 are available, although specific details regarding their release or purchasing information were not provided in the recent update.
