Olympian Akhtar ul Islam recently highlighted the important role of impartial journalism in countering “personal interests” that hinder sports development, and advocated its crucial role in restoring the nation’s athletic glory. He made these remarks at an event held in honor of the newly elected cabinet of the Sindh Sports Journalists Association (SJAS).

At the event held today under the auspices of the Pakistan Institute of Hockey, Akhtar ul Islam recalled a bygone “golden era” when both Pakistani hockey and objective reporting played a crucial role in safeguarding national pride. He emphasized that contemporary journalism should embrace integrity to effectively contribute to the improvement and success of sports teams.

The Pakistan Institute of Hockey was highlighted by the speakers as a guiding light against the current “personal interests”. Various prominent personalities present on the occasion appreciated the institute’s services in sports.

.Olympian Iftikhar Syed, Athletic Coach Muhammad Talib, Former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dow Medical University Professor Dr. Khawar Saeed Jamali, Former Sports Producer PTV Shahida Shoaib Rizvi, President of Pakistan American Cultural Center Makhdoom Syed Ali Riaz, KHA Chairman Gulfraz Ahmed Khan, Secretary General of Pakistan Sports Writers Federation Asghar Azeem, President of SJAS Mehmood Riaz, Secretary General of SJAS Mujahid Ali Solangi, Ambassador of Hockey Professor Rao Javaid Iqbal, Organizer PIH Rana Mushtaq Ahmed, and Zahid Shahab addressed the event.

.On this occasion, commemorative shields were presented to the newly elected cabinet. Sultan Mehmood Ghaznavi, Sakhawat Ali, Shabana Sehar, Shakeel Solangi, Roshan Ali, Azmatullah, Nawaz Haider, Athar Tanoli, Hafiz Atif Nawaz Soharwardi, Azeem Ahmed Khan Advocate, Akram Qaimkhani, Junaid Ahmed Khan, Asghar Ali, Syed Imtiaz ul Hassan and others were also present at the event.

Participants further expressed their hope that the newly formed SJAS cabinet will uphold the fundamental principles of ethical journalism with full integrity.
