Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Javed Soneharo Jiskani was granted pre-arrest bail today by the Sindh High Court Circuit Bench, Mirpurkhas in the case of Dr. Shahnawaz Kumbhar’s murder.
Dr. Kumbhar’s death, which occurred approximately 20 months ago, was allegedly the result of a staged police encounter. Jiskani was seen in hiding in this controversial case, and was previously declared a fugitive by the Anti-Terrorism Court, Mirpurkhas, which also ordered the confiscation of his property.
The decision to grant bail came after a hearing in which arguments were presented in support of Jiskani, highlighting the legal and procedural aspects of the case. The court’s decision allows Jiskani to avoid immediate custody while further investigations are ongoing.
This case has become the focus of public attention as it involves high-ranking police officers and the circumstances of Dr. Kumbhar’s death are also controversial. Legal proceedings are expected to continue as investigators attempt to uncover details of the alleged encounter.
