To address Karachi’s environmental challenges, an important urban forest project has been inaugurated today by Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The aim of this initiative is to significantly reduce air pollution and enhance the city’s green landscape.
The project has been launched on EBM Causeway Bhutto Highway, where 10,000 trees have already been planted, with a target of planting 100,000 saplings. This effort is a major step towards making Karachi a more sustainable and environmentally friendly city.
The project focuses on the plantation of various types of trees, including neem, gulmohar, and rain trees, which are known for their environmental benefits. These species will help improve air quality and provide a natural habitat for birds and wildlife, enhancing the city’s biodiversity.
Mayor Wahab highlighted the importance of the project in tackling climate change and prioritizing Karachi’s beauty and ecological health. This phased tree-planting campaign is part of broader efforts to increase urban greenery and promote environmental stewardship.
As the project progresses, it promises not only to transform the city’s landscape but also to serve as a symbol of environmental responsibility and urban renewal.
