Federal government announces three-day public holidays from Tuesday on Eid al-Adha

The federal government has announced a three-day public holiday starting from Tuesday on the occasion of Eid al-Adha celebrations.

This announcement was made today through an official notification by the Cabinet Division, confirming that the Prime Minister has approved holidays on 26th, 27th, and 28th May. This decision will provide citizens the opportunity to celebrate the religious festival, which will be observed nationwide on 27th May.

The announcement of public holidays on Eid al-Adha is a traditional practice, providing families the chance to gather and participate in the traditional celebrations associated with this important occasion.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the major Islamic festivals, celebrated in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

With the official approval of the holidays, employees in the public and private sectors will have the opportunity for a long break, facilitating travel and family gatherings across the country.

The purpose of this announcement is to ensure that individuals can fully engage in the spiritual and communal aspects of Eid al-Adha, fostering a sense of unity and shared celebration.
