Awareness Seminar and Walk Held in Sakrand on World No Tobacco Day

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, an awareness seminar and walk were held in Sakrand today, aimed at educating young people about the dangers of smoking and other intoxicants.

This event was held on 20 May 2026, prior to the 31 May World No Tobacco Day, organized by the Community Development Foundation (CDF) in collaboration with the CTC Network. The seminar attracted several influential figures who highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco and similar substances.

The event included speeches from CDF Chairman Abdul Hameed Arain, health experts Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Qureshi and Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Bhatti, and community members like Muhammad Asif Arain, Raza Muhammad Siyal, and Ahsan Bhatti. They unanimously pointed out that cigarettes, nicotine, and snuff not only harm individual health but also endanger the future of the younger generation. The speakers emphasized collective social efforts through awareness campaigns against these harmful habits, with the ultimate goal of creating a healthy and safe environment.

The seminar was skillfully hosted by Hudaifa, with sixth-grade students from the CDF schooling system expressing interest and committing to avoiding intoxicants and informing their peers.

At the end of the seminar, participants, including speakers and students, joined an awareness walk. They carried banners and placards with anti-smoking messages, appealing to the public to refrain from the use of cigarettes, snuff, and other intoxicants, and to promote a healthy and prosperous lifestyle.

This initiative proved to be a commendable effort to raise awareness among the youth and inform the community about the serious consequences of smoking.
