Ireland Women beat Pakistan Women by seven wickets in the third match of the Women’s T20I tri- series here at Castle Avenue in Dublin on Sunday. Pakistan will now take on West Indies in the fifth match of the T20 tournament on Wednesday, 3 June.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan Women posted 176 for six in their 20 overs. Opening wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali top-scored with a 41-ball 65 featuring eight fours and three sixes. She added 44 for the opening wicket with Gull Feroza, who made a brisk 32 off 15 balls, hitting six fours before being dismissed in the fifth over.
After Ayesha Zafar’s dismissal in the seventh over, Muneeba and Saira Jabeen stitched an 88-run third-wicket partnership. Muneeba was caught by Rebecca Stokell off Alana Dalzell as the scoreboard read 145 for three in 15.4 overs. Saira made 36 off 33 balls hitting four boundaries before falling in the next over. Captain Fatima Sana chipped in with 21 off 14 including two fours to help Pakistan post over 170.
For Ireland, Ava Canning took two wickets for 35 in four overs. In reply, Ireland Women reached the target in 19.1 overs. Opening batter Amy Hunter scored 56 off 44 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. The wicketkeeper-batter knitted 44 runs for the opening wicket with Dalzell. Hunter then added 51 with Stokell, who finished unbeaten on 60 off 42 balls, hitting seven fours.
Skipper Orla Prendergast contributed a quickfire 33 off 17 balls in a 77-run third-wicket stand with Stokell to tilt the game in her side’s favour before being trapped leg-before-wicket by Ayesha Zafar in the penultimate over.
Earlier, Ayesha had also dismissed Hunter to return figures of 3-0-24-2.
