A court in Thatta today, in a historic decision, ordered a case to be filed against more than 50 police officers, including the CIA in-charge and several Station House Officers (SHOs), for severe violation of privacy and alleged misconduct. This incident occurred in Yar Muhammad Khaskheli village.
This court decision came after a petition filed by local villager Muhammad Ali Khaskheli, who accused these officers under Section 22 of conducting a violent raid on the village, arson, abduction, and looting. Second Additional Sessions Judge Ghulam Murtaza delivered this decision, instructing DSP Siraj Lashari to investigate the incident under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hyderabad.
The villagers were represented by Advocate Mansoor Turk, the former General Secretary of Thatta Bar Association, who argued that police actions severely affected their lives. The court’s decision, reserved three days ago, acknowledged these claims and approved the petition.
The decision specifically targets Mirpur Sakro SHO Fida Hussain Khaskheli, Gharo SHO Asad Ilahi, Ghorabari SHO Majid Korai, and CIA in-charge Zulfiqar Khan, instructing the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Thatta to file an FIR against the involved officers, detailing crimes such as the abduction of four women and two minor girls and the attack on the village.
This court order was praised by Niaz Khaskheli, Chairman Khaskheli Ittehad, as a victory for the villagers and as evidence of the judiciary’s power against police oppression. Khaskheli Ittehad had already announced an initiative to resist police brutality after a community meeting, which strengthens the pursuit of justice through legal means.
