Karamullah Waqasi, spokesperson for the Mayor of Karachi and Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), said today that the restoration of public confidence, improvements in civic services, and the steady progress of development projects in Karachi reflect the success of the PPP’s people-centric policies and the dynamic leadership of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
Speaking about the ongoing development initiatives in the city, Waqasi stated that the collection of Rs4 billion in municipal taxes through electricity bills by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is a clear indication of growing public trust in local government institutions. He noted that citizens are willingly paying their dues because they believe their contributions are being utilized for urban development, the provision of essential services, and public welfare projects.
He said that this achievement is the result of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab’s transparent, accountable, and service-oriented governance model, which has strengthened the relationship between the city administration and the residents of Karachi.
Waqasi further stated that the development plans included in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s upcoming fiscal year budget will mark the beginning of a new era of growth and progress in the city’s history. He emphasized that, with the full support of the Sindh Government and the public-oriented vision of the Pakistan Peoples Party, noticeable improvements are being witnessed in infrastructure development, municipal facilities, and the quality of civic services throughout Karachi.
Highlighting recent progress in the city’s water supply system, the mayor’s spokesperson described the replacement of the 60-year-old Water Line No. 5 from Dhabeji to Karachi as a landmark project with long-term benefits. He said that the completion of the project will significantly strengthen the city’s water transmission network, making it more efficient, reliable, and sustainable while ensuring an improved water supply for millions of residents.
According to Waqasi, the joint efforts of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, the Sindh Government, and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation are helping to modernize the city’s water infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the positive impact of these initiatives will become even more evident in the coming years and will contribute to addressing one of Karachi’s most pressing civic challenges.
He added that these measures demonstrate the commitment of the relevant authorities to prioritizing the provision of basic services and improving the quality of life of Karachi’s residents. The ongoing investments in infrastructure and public utilities, he said, are aimed at creating a more efficient and citizen-friendly urban environment.
Reaffirming the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to public service and development, Waqasi said that the party has always believed in addressing public issues through practical solutions and sustainable development initiatives. He credited PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s people-focused vision, the continued support of the Sindh Government, and the proactive leadership of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab for accelerating the pace of development, construction, and service delivery across the metropolis.
Concluding his remarks, Waqasi said that improvements in civic services, the rapid execution of development projects, enhancements to the water supply system, and record revenue collection are all indicators that public confidence is strengthening and that Karachi is moving in the right direction. He reiterated that the Pakistan Peoples Party remains committed to meeting public expectations and will further intensify its efforts to transform Karachi into a modern, developed, and prosperous city.
