Three suspected dacoits were killed in armed encounter involving the Punjab Police’s Crime Control Department (CCD), which is currently facing heightened scrutiny following the killing of a young girl during an earlier operation in Chakwal this month.
A CCD spokesperson stated today that the first incident occurred in Bhawana Tehsil of Chiniot district, where three suspected criminals were killed during an operation linked to the recovery of stolen goods. Authorities said the suspects were being escorted for the retrieval of looted property when their alleged accomplices opened fire on the CCD team in an attempt to secure their release.
Police personnel responded to the attack with retaliatory fire. After the exchange of gunfire ended, a search operation was launched in the area, during which the bodies of the three suspects were recovered. Officials claimed they were killed as a result of firing by their own associates during the clash.
