Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced a visit to Tehran to pay tribute to the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and to express Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people.
In a joint press briefing today with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Prime Minister Sharif thanked regional leaders such as Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Mohammed bin Salman, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for their support in advancing peace efforts.
President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s significant and responsible contribution to promoting regional peace. He thanked Prime Minister Sharif, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Chief of Defence Force Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as Pakistani lawmakers and citizens for their consistent support of Iran during recent conflicts.
“If these efforts had not been made, we would not be here today,” President Pezeshkian said, highlighting the critical role in the area of diplomatic negotiations.
