Balochistan Begins LG By-Election Process Across 20 Districts

The issuance of nomination papers for the second phase of the 2026 local government by-elections has begun across 20 districts of Balochistan. Online training for Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs) has also been completed.

According to the election schedule report today, the scrutiny of candidates’ nomination papers will be conducted from July 6 to 8, while appeals against the decisions of the Returning Officers may be filed from July 10 to 13. The final list of candidates will be issued on July 20, and polling will be held on August 9, 2026.

Meanwhile, online training for Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs) was successfully conducted at the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan, to ensure the transparent, fair, and effective conduct of the local government by-elections.

During the training sessions, detailed guidance was provided on electoral laws, the code of conduct, polling station management, vote counting, result compilation, and other election-related matters. The training for ROs was conducted by District Election Commissioner Quetta, Syed Nazir Ahmed Shah, while the training for DROs was conducted by District Election Commissioner Mastung, Syed Ehsanullah Shah.

On the occasion, election officials were also given the necessary instructions to ensure that the electoral process is conducted in a transparent, impartial, and effective manner.
