Two Drown While Bathing in Stream

Two young men drowned while bathing in a stream near Adiala Road in Rawalpindi on Sunday after reportedly venturing into deep water, rescue officials said.

According to Rescue 1122, the victims were identified as 24-year-old Hilal and 19-year-old Zeeshan. Officials said the two entered the stream for a bath but drifted into a deeper section and were unable to make their way back to safety.

Rescue teams launched a search and recovery operation immediately after receiving an emergency call. The bodies of both victims were later retrieved from the stream and transferred to a local mortuary.

Preliminary findings indicated that the youths accidentally moved into a deep portion of the water while bathing. Police have opened an investigation to establish the exact circumstances that led to the incident.

Authorities urged the public to refrain from swimming or bathing in streams, canals and other natural water bodies, particularly during the monsoon season, warning that rapidly rising water levels and stronger currents can pose serious risks.
