PTI Leader Warns of Quetta-Islamabad March

A senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Balochistan on Sunday warned that a long march from Quetta to Islamabad would be launched if the government failed to convert the province’s single-lane national highways into two-lane roads.

Speaking at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club alongside Waseel Khan, Asfandyar Khan Kakar said the proposed march would not target any political party or group but would instead seek to draw the attention of the authorities to what he described as the dangerous condition of Balochistan’s national highways.

Kakar argued that the province’s single-lane highways were a major factor behind fatal road accidents, claiming they resulted in hundreds of deaths every year. Referring to the recent traffic accident in Dan-e-Sir, Sherani District, which reportedly killed 40 passengers, he said the tragedy occurred because the national highway linking Sherani with Dera Ismail Khan remained a single-lane road.

He urged the authorities to immediately upgrade all single-lane national highways across Balochistan into two-lane roads, saying the move was essential to safeguarding the lives and property of the province’s residents.
