Dumar tribal chief Sardar Ehsanullah Dumar on Friday called for a review of security and administrative policies following the deadly Mangi Dam incident in Ziarat, saying those responsible for deploying personnel without adequate resources should be held accountable.
Addressing a public gathering organised by the All Parties alliance in connection with the Mangi Dam incident, Dumar said the event was intended to express solidarity with the families of the slain personnel and to protest what he described as oppression and injustice rather than serve as a political rally.
He said the Mangi Dam incident resulted from negligence by the relevant authorities, arguing that after the former tribal Balochistan Levies force was merged into the police, personnel were left with limited resources, outdated weapons and inadequate ammunition. Under such circumstances, he said, it was difficult for them to confront militants effectively.
Dumar said Mangi Dam was a sensitive and mountainous area where security personnel had been deployed without sufficient logistical support or essential facilities. He claimed that even basic necessities, including drinking water, were unavailable at the site and said those responsible for the arrangements should be held accountable.
He also urged authorities to examine the broader policies behind such deployments instead of placing responsibility solely on the district administration.
Commenting on broader national issues, Dumar said people from all communities, including Pashtuns, Baloch, Saraikis and Punjabis, were facing common challenges. He added that education, healthcare, infrastructure, law and order, and other public services were in decline across the country. He further alleged that the problems had persisted for decades and claimed that a privileged group continued to dominate decision-making according to its own interests.
