Launch of Green Electric Bus Service in 5 More Districts of Punjab

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, today inaugurated the expansion of the Green Electric Bus Service to five additional districts, a significant step in the region’s public transport and environmental efforts.

The newly included districts-Chiniot, Sialkot, Okara, Murree, and Layyah-will see these eco-friendly buses on the roads from the 15th of next month. This initiative aims to revolutionize public transport in Punjab, with approximately 1,100 electric buses to be introduced in various cities.

During the inaugural event in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz stated that there are plans to further expand this fleet, with 1,500 buses expected this year. This number is anticipated to grow to 3,000 in the next three years, with a target of reaching 5,000 electric buses in five years.

This expansion reflects the government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable urban transport solutions. The introduction of electric buses is a significant step towards modernizing infrastructure while addressing environmental concerns.
