Quetta’s historic ‘Koyla Phatak Chowk’ has been renamed ‘Shuhada-e-Ziarat Chowk’ (Martyrs of Ziarat Square). This step has been taken to pay tribute to the police officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during counter-terrorism operations in Ziarat.
The Government of Balochistan, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, took this initiative to ensure the sacrifices of these brave officers are always remembered. Shahid Rind, the Provincial Minister for Information and Political Affairs, announced today that the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta has issued an official notification regarding this change, which comes into effect immediately.
Minister Rind emphasised that the martyrs” sacrifices are invaluable to the nation as they fought for peace and the safety of Balochistan”s people. Recognising these sacrifices by naming public locations after the martyrs serves the dual purpose of remembering their bravery and educating future generations about their heroism.
He assured that the provincial government remains committed to upholding the honour and welfare of the martyrs and their families. By embedding their names into public consciousness, the government aims to ensure these sacrifices are celebrated as a permanent part of national history.
