Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced full support for the shutter-down strike to be held on 21 July 2026. This strike is being organized to protest against the imposition of new taxes in former FATA, PATA, and Malakand Division. This initiative is being led by Provincial President Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, aiming to challenge the economic pressure on these areas.
Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha has instructed all party members, divisional to district presidents, tehsil, and sub-organizations to mobilize. Their mission is to contact traders, lawyers, civil society, and transporters to ensure the strike is conducted peacefully and democratically.
The people of these areas have faced terrorism, instability, displacement, and economic hardships in recent years. Bacha argued that the imposition of additional taxes increases their financial burden and overlooks the challenges they are facing. PPP has consistently opposed these taxes and supported the community’s perspective in forums like the All Parties Conference.
The Provincial President emphasized that PPP’s commitment is to stand with the residents of these areas, protecting their constitutional and economic rights. The party aims to continue its efforts until these unjust tax policies are abolished.
