A four-member high-level delegation from Balochistan held an important meeting with Sindh’s Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro over water scarcity in Balochistan.
The meeting focused on mutual water cooperation and the supply of water to Balochistan through the Pat Feeder Canal. The meeting at Shoro House Karachi was also attended by Sindh’s Irrigation Secretary Zarif Khero and Sindh Assembly member Mir Nadir Magsi. The Balochistan delegation included provincial ministers Saleem Khosa, Mir Sadiq Umrani, Faisal Jamali, Muhammad Khan Lehri, and Balochistan’s Irrigation Secretary.
Abro, along with the Chief Engineers of Sukkur and Guddu Barrages, and other relevant officials, participated online. During the meeting, various aspects of Balochistan’s water shortage, water supply through the Pat Feeder Canal, and effective implementation of the water agreement were thoroughly reviewed. On this occasion, Sindh’s Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro directed irrigation officials to ensure the supply of water to Balochistan through the Pat Feeder Canal in accordance with the water agreement.
Shoro assured the Balochistan delegation that the Sindh government would continue full cooperation in providing water to Balochistan under the agreement and that mutual harmony between the two provinces would be further strengthened. The Sindh Irrigation Minister also instructed officials to take strict and indiscriminate action against all illegal watercourses across Sindh to ensure fair distribution of water.
