A good lawyer needs to be committed: Director General, Federal Judicial Academy

Islamabad, October 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): A one-week training course on “Continuing Legal Education: Professional Development Package for Members of the Bar” was formally launched at the Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad, on October 7, 2019. In his brief inaugural address, Director General of the Academy, Mr. Hayat Ali Shah stated, “This weeklong training is customised to the needs of legal profession in our country.

The erudite resource persons will cover several very important topics and subjects. These include: “Professional Ethics”, “Art of Advocacy”, “Addressing the Court (Practical Exercise)”, “Critical Thinking” and “Understanding of Revenue Record”. It will also increase their level of awareness and insight into the “Steps in Civil Cases”, “Digital Investigation” “Medical Jurisprudence”. You will also be lectured on “Evidence-The Judges Perspective”, “Pre-Trial Proceedings (Criminal), Pleadings (Peers’ Review), etc.”

Regarding the legal profession, the DG said, “This is such a great opportunity for lawyers to contribute positively to society – not with a view to any gain of their own, but with a view for raising standards of behaviour around the country. Lawyers are educated, articulate and in my personal experience hard workers. They need to put those talents to use to carry forward the noble legacy of this prestigious profession! Lawyers should always be thorough professionals who are beyond reproach, that people aspire to, and that nation should be proud of them.” 30 trainees both male and female lawyers from the Hyderabad District Bar Association attend this week-long training at the FJA, under the Program of Continuing Legal Education.
