Accused involved in police officer’s murder killed in retaliatory action in Shikarpur, 5 criminals arrested in injured condition

An alleged dacoit involved in the murder of a police officer has been killed during a police operation in Shikarpur. Five other alleged dacoits, including the brother of the killed accused, were also arrested in an injured state in the encounter.

The police action was initiated early this morning under the leadership of SSP Kaleem Malik in the Mehmoodabad area, following the incident that occurred last night. An officer named Sagheer was martyred in an attack by assailants on a police check-post on Zarkhel Link Road within the jurisdiction of the New Faujdari police station.

In the operation that continued overnight, law enforcement agencies killed Altaf Kamalani Jatoi. He has been identified as the brother of the alleged dacoit Shehzado Kamalani and was allegedly involved in multiple cases, including the murder of the police officer.

During the exchange of fire, five other individuals, including Shehzado Kamalani, were arrested in an injured state. Security forces have continued to cordon off the area and the operation is ongoing, while authorities expect further developments.

According to a statement issued from the office of the Sindh Home Minister, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has praised SSP Shikarpur and his team for the operation. He said that “The timely and successful action against the dacoit involved in the murder of the police officer has boosted the morale of the police.”

The Home Minister directed the law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts against criminal elements in the area. He said that “The action against the dacoits should be further intensified and they should be cornered.”
