Islamabad, November 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): Acting High Commissioner Richard Crowder and Ms. Annabel Gerry, Head of Pakistan Office of the UK Department of International Development (DFID) called on Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division, Hammad Azhar. Mr. Azhar appreciated UK’s role as one of the largest development partners of Pakistan. Pakistan was committed an assistance of £1021 million, out of which £690 million have been disbursed. He also appreciated DFID’s assistance in education sector, poverty reduction programs, budget support and skill development in the form of Punjab Skill Development Fund.
He also highlighted the assistance of DFID and the Government of UK in the health sector by initiating Punjab and KP Provincial Health and Nutritional Programs. He also appreciated UK’s support in Pakistan’s joining of Open Government Partnership to promote transparency and fight corruption. The acing High Commissioner appreciated efforts of the present government in fighting corruption and making institutions and processes more transparent. The acting High Commissioner expressed his support for continued assistance to Government of Pakistan in social and educational sectors.
