Aga Khan University’s first-ever global convocation on May 22

KARACHI: Aga Khan University’s first-ever global convocation ceremony, to be broadcast simultaneously across 13 time zones on May 22, 2021, will celebrate 667 graduating students at the university’s campuses in Kenya, Pakistan, Tanzania, Uganda and the UK. The ceremony will reflect AKU’s unique international breadth and commitment to global education and healthcare, as well as its response to the pandemic, working among the world’s most underserved populations.

The convocation will include addresses by Aga Khan, AKU’s founder and Chancellor, and Ms. Melinda French Gates, Co-chair and Trustee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

It will feature academic processions and ceremonies in five countries for the conferring of degrees and awarding of diplomas as well as granting awards of distinction.
