Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq today announced the peaceful conclusion of the recent Press Freedom March.

According to the Press Information Department, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The march ended without incident due to the collaborative efforts of the Azad Kashmir Newspaper Society (AKNS) and the Press Foundation.

The government engaged in dialogue with the marchers, addressing issues faced by working journalists. The negotiation committee was led by the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude towards AKNS and the Press Foundation for their roles in resolving the matter.

Haq emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue and acknowledged the peaceful handling of the march. He highlighted the role of Afzal Butt in resolving the state and non-state actor debate. The government also made efforts to prevent the situation from escalating into a fifth-generation warfare scenario.

The Prime Minister stated that the government had lodged a bailable FIR against a newspaper owner and expressed willingness to defend it in court. He praised the efforts of the police and intelligence agencies in maintaining peace and security in Azad Kashmir, noting recent arrests in high-profile cases.

Haq reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining peace and security, stressing the need for collective efforts and vigilance against any attempts to incite unrest. The government, he assured, is dedicated to resolving issues through mutual understanding and dialogue.
