Following a comprehensive citywide security sweep across the capital, police forces thoroughly examined 961 individuals, leading to the apprehension of an Afghan national and multiple suspects, including those allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
The intensified search and combing operations were launched under the specific directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, according to a report today. These efforts aim to curtail criminal activities and target offenders throughout the federal territory.
Overseen by SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, the expansive security initiative also received monitoring from the respective zonal Superintendents of Police, ensuring broad coverage and coordination.
During these rigorous checks, officers inspected 291 residential properties, 51 hotels, and 72 commercial establishments. Furthermore, 355 motorcycles and 114 other vehicles were thoroughly screened.
Beyond the initial inspections, one Afghan national, 30 individuals deemed suspicious, and 32 motorcycles were transferred to police custody for further verification procedures. Additionally, persons implicated in drug peddling were taken into custody during these operations.
SSP Operations Islamabad affirmed that the primary objective of these ongoing security drives is to constrict the activities of criminal elements and bolster overall public safety across the urban area.
Such wide-ranging operations are systematically being conducted across various sectors of the district. The Islamabad Police maintains an uncompromising stance against criminals, illegal land occupiers, and narcotics dealers, he added.
