The Special Investigation Unit on Thursday arrested a key suspect involved in the murder of a citizen during a robbery in Gulshan-e-Mimar, from whom the weapon used was also recovered.
It came to light that on March 8, 2026, near the Northern Bypass, within Gulshan-e-Mimar police limits, a tragic incident occurred where three armed individuals shot and killed 26-year-old Mian Bakhsh s/o Muhammad Hayat. The culprits snatched a mobile phone and cash amounting to Rs 20,000 from the victim and fled. A case was registered at Gulshan-e-Mimar Police Station under FIR No. 132/26 under sections 394, 397, 302, and 34 PPC, the investigation of which was later transferred to SIU/CIA.
Following the directives of SSP SIU/CIA, the Special Investigation Unit team launched a comprehensive operation. Utilizing both technical resources and human intelligence, the unit successfully tracked and arrested an individual named Javed Chana s/o Khadim Hussain in the Peerabad area.
A 9mm pistol was recovered from the arrested suspect, believed to be the weapon used in the aforementioned crime. During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the incident with his accomplices. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining co-accused.
Further investigation is currently underway. Authorities are in the process of obtaining the suspect’s previous criminal record to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
