Police have registered a criminal case against retired police officer Rana Akram, the former husband of Anmol Pinky, a central figure in a high-profile drug trafficking investigation, following allegations of unlawful entry, assault, robbery, and abuse of authority.
The first information report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of Yasmeen Tabassum after an inquiry conducted by the City Capital Police Officer (CCPO) reportedly found prima facie evidence against Rana Akram.
According to the FIR, Rana Akram, accompanied by more than 10 police personnel, allegedly forced his way into the complainant’s residence in July 2024.
The complainant alleged that Rana Akram and the accompanying officers assaulted her husband before taking away jewellery worth Rs55 million, local and foreign currency, and other valuables from the house.
She further alleged that the suspects falsely implicated her husband in a criminal case, took him into custody, and drove away a vehicle belonging to the family.
Police said Rana Akram has since retired from service and that an investigation into the allegations is underway.
Investigators said Anmol Pinky had later married Rana Akram after the two became acquainted during an earlier criminal case in Lahore.
Authorities alleged that Rana Akram purchased two bungalows using money allegedly provided by Anmol Pinky, a claim that has intensified scrutiny of the case and raised questions about possible protection networks.
During interrogation, investigators said Anmol Pinky alleged that an official identified as Ahsan, whom she claimed was associated with a state institution, had once detained her brother and subsequently demanded money from her.
According to investigators, she claimed she initially paid Rs50 million and later continued making monthly payments ranging between Rs2.5 million and Rs3 million.
Investigators further alleged that Anmol Pinky disclosed she had previously been arrested in Lahore, where she first came into contact with the police officer whom she later married.
Police investigators alleged that the relationship eventually developed into marriage and that financial transactions between the two continued over time.
Police sources also claimed that Anmol Pinky’s first husband, who resides in Malaysia, had introduced her to the manufacture of cocaine. The allegations remain part of the ongoing investigation and have not been independently verified in court.
