Anti-Dengue-Malaria drive launched in Karachi

On the directives of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation today launched a special fumigation and disinfectant spray campaign across the city to prevent dengue and malaria.

During the campaign, disinfectant spraying will be carried out in various areas, cattle markets, bazaars, streets, neighborhoods, and public places to protect citizens from infectious diseases.

Mayor Karachi directed the Municipal Services Department to make special arrangements for disinfectant spraying, along with cleanliness measures during Eid-ul-Adha, and ensure that no area is overlooked during the campaign. He further instructed that operations be carried out effectively in all Union Committees.

According to the Municipal Services Department of KMC, the spray campaign will continue until the fourth day of Eid, while special attention is being given to sensitive and densely populated areas. The primary objective of the campaign is to control mosquito breeding and prevent the spread of dangerous diseases such as dengue and malaria in order to provide a healthy environment for citizens.

The mayor said that KMC was utilizing all available resources to provide a better and safer environment for the people of Karachi. He directed the concerned departments to ensure coordinated arrangements for cleanliness, timely disposal of animal waste, and disinfectant spraying during Eid-ul-Adha so that citizens do not face any inconvenience.

He also appealed to citizens to keep their homes, streets, and surroundings clean, avoid stagnant water, and adopt precautionary measures to stay safe from diseases such as dengue and malaria. He stated that only through public cooperation can the city be made clean, healthy, and disease-free.

The mayor further directed that daily reports of the spray campaign be prepared and that additional spraying be carried out immediately in areas where complaints regarding mosquito infestation are received. Special teams have also been formed for monitoring and operational activities in different parts of the city.
