APHC discusses IOK’s prevailing political situation

Srinagar, May 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has discussed at length the prevailing political situation of Jammu and Kashmir, with reference to the ongoing movement for right to self-determination. The APHC in an extraordinary meeting of Majlis Shura convened by Chairman Syed Ali Gilani at Hyderpora in Srinagar took a serious note of the broad discussion, opinions and proposals put forward by Shura members.

Syed Ali Gilani in his presidential address said that the people of Kashmir are engaged in a legitimate democratic and political movement of right to self-determination. “We have been subjugated and victimized for our genuine political beliefs, Gilani said while giving details of the precious and exemplary sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir since 1947.

Condemning the use of brute force and military might to suppress the freedom sentiments of the people, he advised Majlis Shura not to succumb to the repression and suppression used by India to defy the will of the people. He reiterated the stance taken by Hurriyat Conference that Kashmir is a political and human issue which needs an early resolution according to the wishes and aspirations of the people, for a prosperous subcontinent.

The APHC chairman urged the United Nations to use its official position and prevail upon India to display its willingness to resolve this long-pending dispute in the larger interests of permanent peace and progress of the whole South Asia.

He also demanded an effective check on the gross violations of human rights at the hands of Indian forces in Kashmir by sending a selected team of the United Nations Human Rights Commission, International Committee for Red-Cross, Amnesty International and Asia Watch.

The meeting paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Pulwama and Shopian along with all the martyrs who have sacrificed their precious lives since 1931. The meeting also hailed the steadfastness and commitment displayed by all prisoners of conscious languishing in and outside jails. It condemned strongly the vile action of banning Jamaat-e-Islami, a purely religious organization and pro-freedom political party JKLF. The meeting decided to organize a seminar in relation to “Message of Ramadan” at Hyderpora on May 26, 2019.

Those constituents who participated in the Majlis Shoora meeting include Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Bashir Ahmad Indrabi, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Ghulam Mohammad Nagoo, Mohammad Yaseen Aataie, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Arshad Aziz, Khawaja Firdous Ahmad, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Zamrooda Habib, Bilal Ahmad Sidqui and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar.
