At least 2,193 healthcare professionals tested positive of COVID-19 in Pakistan

KARACHI:At least 2,193 frontline healthcare workers have been tested positive for Coronavirus throughout Pakistan since outbreak of this viral infection in this country.

As per data issued by national health ministry 2,193 healthcare workers are infected from Coronavirus; out of them 1,232 are doctors, 333 are nurses and 628 are other support staff. A total 23 healthcare workers have died of the viral infection in the country so far, while 789 recovered from diseases, 1,185 are in isolation at home or other places and 196 in hospitals.

More cases of the novel coronavirus infection among health professionals have been reported from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan while cases have also been reported from Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir.

As many as 645 health professionals have been found infected with COVID-19 in Sindh; out of which 503 doctors, 48 nurses and 94 paramedics and support staff. The majority of cases were reported in public and private sector hospitals of Karachi.

Around 637 health professionals are infected with COVID-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) out of them 296 are doctors, 112 nurses and 229 paramedics and support staff. Similarly, 400 professionals have been infected in Punjab: 138 doctors, 118 nurses and 144 paramedics and support staff.

As many as 248 health professionals have been found infected with the novel coronavirus in Balochistan: 184 doctors, 04 nurses and 60 paramedics and support staff.

About 208 health professionals have been found infected with COVID-19 in Islamabad out of them 99 are doctors, 48 nurses and 61 paramedics and support staff.

As many as 43 healthcare professionals in Gilgit Baltistan and 12 in Azad Jammu Kashmir have been found positive of Corona Virus so far.
