Azerbaijan Facilitates Month-Long Evacuation of Over 3,100 People from Iran

A significant evacuation effort has seen 3,146 individuals, including citizens from dozens of countries across the globe, relocated from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan over the past month, according to a report from APA.

The large-scale operation was conducted between 08:00 on 28 February and 10:00 on 31 March. Among those transported were 551 Azerbaijani nationals, according to an official report today.

The vast majority of the evacuees were foreign citizens, with nationals from China constituting the largest contingent at 728 people. Other substantial groups included 354 Russians, 198 Bangladeshis, 196 Indians, and 187 Tajiks.

The diverse group of relocated persons also included 148 people from Pakistan, 84 from Oman, 68 from Indonesia, and 61 from Iran itself.

A considerable number of European nationals were also assisted, with 44 Italians, 26 Spaniards, 24 Germans, 19 French, and 10 citizens of the United Kingdom among those moved.

Further highlighting the international scope of the effort, the list of evacuees included 25 Canadians and 11 people from the United States.

The operation encompassed a wide array of other nationalities, including single citizens from nations such as the Vatican, Belize, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic, demonstrating the extensive reach of the humanitarian corridor.
