Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Pakistan has commended the strong position taken by the Federal Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Malik, particularly his critique of inconsistencies within international climate commitments and his call for collective global responsibility.
During a meeting at the minister’s office today, Mr Khazar Farhadov acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive and vocal role in championing equitable climate action for developing nations, referencing Dr. Malik”s stance at a recent ECO meeting on climate change.
In a move to bolster cooperation on environmental matters, the ambassador extended a formal invitation to Dr. Musadik Malik to participate in the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum. The major international conference is scheduled to be held in Baku from 17th to 22nd May 2026.
The forum is expected to provide a significant platform for deliberation on the climate-urban nexus, resilience-building, and collective pathways toward environmentally sustainable urban development.
Dr. Malik welcomed the invitation and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan on critical global issues.
Both officials also took the opportunity to reaffirm the deep-rooted brotherly relations that exist between the two nations, underscoring their strong cultural and historical ties.
