Balochistan Cabinet Orders Probe into Wheat Procurement Irregularities, Vows Action Against Corruption

The Balochistan provincial cabinet has ordered an inquiry into significant irregularities in official wheat procurement, forming a parliamentary subcommittee to investigate the matter and directing indiscriminate action against any officials found to be involved in corruption.

The announcement was made by Shahid Rind, Aide to the Chief Minister for Political and Media Affairs, following the 23rd cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, , according to official information today. The cabinet’s focus on food security was further underscored by its decision to purchase 0.50 million metric tons of wheat for the province.

In a move to bolster the region’s economy, the cabinet endorsed the Balochistan Land Lease Policy 2026, which is anticipated to generate new opportunities for investment and employment. The assembly also gave its assent to the Balochistan Public Private Partnership Act 2025.

Addressing security concerns, the cabinet condemned the terrorist incidents of January 31, paying tribute to the martyrs and expressing solidarity with the affected families. It reaffirmed the commitment of the government and security forces to the complete eradication of terrorism and approved the Levies Force (Amendment) Bill 2025.

To enhance safety on national highways, the Inspector General of Police for Balochistan has been instructed to submit a comprehensive report within seven days.

The cabinet also sanctioned the Climate Smart Agriculture project, a scheme designed to promote efficient water usage and increase agricultural output.

On the administrative front, funds were approved for the salaries of Balochistan Development Authority (BDA) employees, and a resolution was passed for the reorganisation of autonomous bodies.
