The Government of Balochistan has legally merged the Balochistan Levies Force into the provincial police, a move that Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said will enable uniform law enforcement across the province. In a separate development focused on economic progress, the provincial administration has decided to install low BTU gas plants on a commercial basis. During a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on Wednesday, proposals were presented to establish industrial facilities at the Margand gas field in Kalat and the Zan gas field in Sui. The briefing highlighted the potential for establishing fertilizer, cement, energy, and ceramics industries, which are expected to significantly increase employment opportunities and tax revenue. Mr. Bugti directed that expressions of interest from investor companies should prioritize skilled individuals.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that a new Center of Excellence will serve as an effective platform for research, awareness, and the prevention of violence. He added that to support these efforts, a positive narrative will be promoted through educational institutions and social media.
Meanwhile, in Karachi, the police apprehended two suspected robbers after an encounter in the Aziz Bhatti area. One person was injured during the exchange of fire. Authorities have recovered weapons, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle from the scene, and legal proceedings are underway.
