Special Assistant to the Balochistan Chief Minister on Media, Shahid Rind, on Tuesday said that the Balochistan governmenthad suspended an Under Secretary and a driver over their alleged involvement in the Wahdat Colony incident.
In a statement, he said that on the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Under Secretary of the Services and General Administration Department, Aftab Jabal, and driver Masood Ahmed had been suspended, adding that suspension notifications for both the officer and the driver had already been issued.
He said that departmental proceedings had been initiated against the suspended officials and that all aspects of the incident were under review. He further stated, ‘The Chief Minister of Balochistan has made it clear that negligence or irresponsible conduct on the part of government officers and officials will not be tolerated under any circumstances,’ adding, ‘Transparent and impartial investigations into the Wahdat Colony incident are being ensured, and action will be taken against those responsible in accordance with the law.’
He said the Government of Balochistan was prioritising the protection of citizens’ lives and property, adding that no action contrary to public trust would be allowed.
He said the Balochistan Chief Minister had directed the relevant authorities to submit a report on the incident at the earliest, adding, ‘The provincial government will not compromise on the principles of rule of law and accountability; those responsible will be held accountable.’
He further said that all legal and administrative measures were being taken to ensure justice for the families affected by the Wahdat Colony incident.
