Advisor to the Chairman Senate, Misbah Khar, extended a formal invitation to the Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan, Mr. Charles-Idesbald van der Gracht de Rommerswael, for a Belgian parliamentary delegation to participate in the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) in Islamabad. The conference, scheduled for November 11-12, 2025, will be hosted by Pakistan, whose Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, was recently elected the organization”s first President.
Khar briefed the ambassador on the ISC”s aims to bolster cooperation and communication among global parliaments. The body currently comprises 45 parliamentary speakers from various regions. Gillani”s election underscores Pakistan”s dedication to international parliamentary diplomacy.
The ambassador received details on the upcoming ISC meeting in Islamabad, including the agenda, planned sessions, key topics, and expected attendance of high-ranking representatives from around the world.
Khar highlighted the meeting as a crucial forum for parliamentary leaders to address urgent global matters such as peace, international collaboration, and sustainable progress. She stressed the conference”s focus on productive discussion and the development of practical solutions to shared problems.
Both officials confirmed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary relations and increasing interpersonal exchanges between Pakistan and Belgium. Senior Director General (Protocol) Tariq bin Waheed also attended the meeting.
