Bilawal colony residents protest for draining out rainwater

Naundero: The residents of Bilawal Colony of Naundero blocked the Ratodero-Naundero Road by putting up barriers near the railway crossing here on Friday against the lack of drainage of rain water in the colony.

The leaders of the protest, Sonu Khan Bhutto, Nasir Jarwar, Ghulam Abbas Sheikh, Saifullah Bhutto, Majid Bhatti and others said that after the rain stopped, the rain water in our colony has not been drained till now. We are tired of visiting the houses of elected representatives and local leaders of the people’s party but no one is ready to meet us.

They said that elected representatives drained water from their favorite areas, but we did not find any help. They asked are we not human? Many houses in the colony have collapsed due to lack of drainage of stagnant rainwater. They said that until now, we have not been given tents, rations or aid, but even the standing rainwater has not been drained.

After the standing rainwater is drained from the streets and houses of the colony, we will be able to sit in our own houses and breathe a sigh of relief, the right of which is being taken away from us.

They demanded that the standing rainwater in Bilawal Colony should be drained out immediately and the victims be provided with relief goods. After two hours of the sit-in, the municipal administration of Naundero reached the sit-in place and assured them that the rainwater would soon be drained out of their colony hence they called off their protest and dispersed peacefully.
