Birthday of national hero Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider to be observed on April 4

The Pakistani nation is set to observe the birth anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed on April 4, paying tribute to the valiant officer of the Pakistan Army who was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider for his extraordinary bravery during the 1971 Pak-India war.

Born on April 4, 1938, in the town of Dinga, Gujrat district, Major Akram completed his early education before receiving his commission in the Frontier Force Regiment on October 13, 1963.

His military career includes distinguished services in the 1965 war, where he led several successful operations.

Major Akram was martyred on December 5, 1971, while bravely fighting enemy forces.

In recognition of his great bravery and eternal sacrifice for the nation, he was awarded Pakistan’s highest military honor, the Nishan-e-Haider.

Although his final resting place is in present-day Bangladesh, various commemorative events are held across Pakistan to pay tribute to his selfless services. The life and sacrifice of Major Muhammad Akram are an indelible part of Pakistan’s history and an example for the younger generation.
