The body of 12-year-old Anas Qureshi, who drowned in the Jamrao Canal, has still not been recovered on the third consecutive day on sunday,
sparking growing concern among his family and the local community, as rescue teams have so far failed to retrieve the child.
According to details, the tragic drowning incident occurred three days ago in Jamrao Canal, involving Anas Qureshi and 23-year-old Talha, both of whom lost their lives. Despite continuous efforts by Rescue 1122 teams using boats and long hours of search operations during the day,
the body of the minor remains untraced.
At the time of the incident, both individuals were traveling with their families to the shrine of Masoom Shah. Police have stated that the exact cause of death for both victims is still unknown, and they are awaiting the preliminary post-mortem report for Talha.
Due to the administration’s failure to assist in recovering the body, the bereaved family and local residents blocked Hyderabad Main Road near the Jamrao Stop in protest, causing major disruption to traffic flow.
Meanwhile,
Union Council Daulat Laghari’s Vice Chairman Qadir Bakhsh Laghari and Councilor Zafeel Rajput have been tirelessly working alongside local divers for the past three days to locate the child’s body, but without any breakthrough so far.
Residents have urged the authorities to take immediate and effective measures, stating that the failure to recover the child’s body raises serious questions about the performance of the responsible institutions.
