BYD Reinforces Global Electric Vehicle Dominance with 4.6 Million Sales in 2025

BYD, a leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), solidified its position as the world’s top seller in the category after announcing it delivered more than 4.6 million vehicles globally in 2025.

The annual sales figures, released on Wednesday, also marked a significant achievement in the company”s international expansion, with overseas sales surpassing one million units for the first time in a single year. This milestone suggests a growing global acceptance of the brand’s electric and hybrid models.

Lei Jian, Country Head of BYD Pakistan, noted the worldwide results and commented on the brand’s local reception since its 2024 launch. “In Pakistan, our lineup has received an unbelievable response as customers gravitate towards state-of-the-art technologies,” he stated, referring to the company’s ATTO 3, SEAL, and SHARK 6 models available in the country.

BYD Auto, the automotive subsidiary of the multinational high-tech company BYD, was founded in 2003 and has since focused on the development of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The organisation is recognised as the world”s first major carmaker to have completely halted the production of fossil-fuelled vehicles to concentrate on its NEV lineup.

The company states that it has mastered the core technologies of the entire NEV industrial chain. Recent technological advancements cited by the firm include its Blade Battery, DM-i and DM-p hybrid technology, the e-Platform 3.0, and the DiSus Intelligent Body Control System. For the past decade, the carmaker has remained the top seller of new energy passenger vehicles in China.

According to the announcement, the 2025 performance underscores BYD”s strategy of delivering technologically advanced vehicles to meet diverse market needs. The firm indicated it will maintain its investment in research and development alongside its international operations to support future growth.
