Campaign to Improve Child Nutrition and Promote Healthy Lifestyles; Agreements Signed Between the Government of Pakistan and Nestlé

As part of a significant campaign to improve child nutrition and promote healthy lifestyles, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) has signed two key agreements with Nestlé Pakistan.

A signing ceremony held today in Islamabad marked the launch of a collaboration between Nestlé Pakistan and two major directorates within the education sector: the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE). The initiative aims to raise awareness regarding nutrition and foster healthy lifestyle habits among children.

Present at the event were Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, Secretary of MoFEPT, alongside senior ministry officials, and representatives from Nestlé Pakistan, including Mr. Sheikh Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, and Ms. Zaira Ahmed, Manager of Corporate Affairs.

Under the “Nestlé for Healthier Kids” initiative, the partnership with FDE is set to train approximately 300 teachers, positively impacting around 10,000 students across federal schools. The focus will be on raising awareness about balanced nutrition, proper hydration, good hygiene practices, physical activity, and responsible waste management.

The agreement with DGSE targets the training of up to 200 faculty members, therapists, and multidisciplinary professionals, aiming to benefit roughly 2,000 children with special needs. This includes the creation of inclusive educational materials and the establishment of resource rooms tailored for these children.

Secretary Nadeem Mahbub lauded the partnership, highlighting the critical role of public-private alliances in enhancing children”s health, well-being, and educational outcomes. Mr. Sheikh Waqar Ahmad echoed this sentiment, noting the shared commitment to empowering educators and inspiring healthier lifestyle choices among future generations.

This collaboration underscores a unified effort to instil lasting positive change in the health and well-being of children through education.
